Frequently asked questions

Short answers to what clients ask before booking. If yours isn’t here, ask it in the contact form.

Booking

How do I book a recording?

Email the script to hey@ib.actor, with the deadline and where the recording will be used. The contact form is fine for questions, but it can’t take files. You get a fixed quote, and work starts once it’s approved in writing. How to prepare a script

How should I prepare the script?

  • Send the final version, approved by everyone who needs to approve it, legal included.
  • Proofread it. Spelling and punctuation shape the read.
  • Read it aloud against the clock. A 30-second spot holds about 70 to 80 English words, and Croatian runs longer, so a script translated from English often needs cutting.
  • Add a pronunciation guide for names, brands, acronyms and foreign words: write them as they’re said, or attach a short recording.
  • Say how it should sound: the tone, the pace, a reference you like, and the exact length if it has to fit picture.
  • If it goes under music or picture, send the music or the video.
  • Send it as a Word document, a PDF or a Google Docs link, with lines or paragraphs numbered if it’s long.
  • For changes after recording, mark the lines in the original script, include the sentence before and after, and add the time code if there’s video.

Can I hear my script before booking?

Yes. Paste up to 50 words of the script into the contact form, or email them, with the deadline and usage, for a free audition: one unedited take, as an MP3 with a short spoken slate. One per project, for evaluation only.

Do you have demos?

Not yet. Until there are, the studio page has a raw take in each language, and a free audition lets you hear the voice on your own script.

How soon will I hear back?

Within one business day. I work weekdays, 8 AM–5 PM Zagreb time, and evenings and weekends by arrangement.

Do you work with clients outside Croatia?

Yes. Everything runs remotely: scripts and files by email or download link, live sessions online. The quote follows your market’s rates, and you can pay in EUR, USD or GBP.

Do you sign contracts and NDAs?

For most jobs, the approved quote and the Terms of Service are the contract. If you’d like a signed agreement, I’ll send a plain one-page one, and I’ll sign your NDA or send mine, in English or Croatian. Scripts and unreleased material stay confidential either way. Any agreement can carry an AI rider that rules out voice cloning and AI training.

Are you union?

No. I’m a non-union voice actor based in Velika Gorica, Croatia.

Recording

Which languages do you record in?

Croatian (native) and English (US accent).

Can you translate or adapt the script?

Yes, from English to Croatian and back, quoted separately. An English script can be adapted into natural Croatian and recorded, or your own translation recorded as written. Croatian clients can also get the English version in the same voice.

Is there anything you won’t voice?

Hate, get-rich schemes, affair sites, crime and fraud in non-fiction work, which includes ads voiced in character. Characters in fiction are fine. Voice cloning and AI training are never allowed.

How fast is delivery?

Short scripts are delivered within one or two business days of an approved quote and the final script. Longer or synced work (localization, audio description, dubbing, full courses) gets its date in the quote. Same-day, evening or weekend delivery carries a rush fee.

Can you be directed live?

Yes, booked by the hour, over Zoom, Teams, Meet or Discord. If you need to hear studio-quality audio as it’s recorded, Cleanfeed, SessionLinkPRO or ipDTL can be added on request. Sessions run in working hours, and evenings and weekends by arrangement.

What do I get, and in which format?

Processed audio, cleaned up and edited, and the raw takes too if you ask. If you don’t name a format, it’s a 48 kHz, 24-bit mono WAV with peaks below -3 dBTP. If you need a loudness target, such as -23 LUFS for European broadcast, put it in the brief (what these mean). FLAC and MP3 are available too, at 44.1 or 48 kHz, and WAV also comes as 16-bit or 32-bit float. Files are sent via Google Drive, Dropbox, WeTransfer, (S)FTP, S3 or email. Delivery formats and specs

How are files split and named?

As your spec says. Without one, a short script comes as one file, and longer scripts and games are split by line or section and named like Client_Project_Role_001_A.wav: the line number in the script, then a letter for each alternate take.

Are revisions included?

Yes, within limits. Mistakes in the recording are always fixed for free. Two rounds of performance retakes in the same direction and script changes of up to 50 words in total are included too. Larger changes, or new direction after you’ve approved the recording, are billed at the rates in the quote. I decide in good faith which is which, and tell you before anything is charged.

Can you add lines later?

Yes. Project files are kept for three years after delivery, so files can be sent again and new or changed lines recorded later in the same booth (pick-ups). New lines get a quote; fixes for my mistakes stay free.

Payment

How much does a voice-over cost?

It depends on the length, the usage (where it runs, for how long, and any exclusivity), the deadline and whether the session is directed live. Recording, cleanup, editing and delivery in your format are always included. Every project gets a fixed quote before anything is recorded. How rates work

Who invoices, in which currency, and how do I pay?

All work is contracted and invoiced by Flyntech, vl. Ivan Benko. Invoices are issued in Croatian, with an English version on request, in EUR, USD or GBP as agreed per project. Invoices are due within 14 days, and you can pay by bank or wire transfer, Wise Business, Revolut Pro or card, and PayPal on request. A new client or a large project may be asked for part of the price in advance.

Is VAT added?

No. Flyntech, vl. Ivan Benko is outside the Croatian VAT system. Business clients in other EU countries account for any VAT in their own country under the reverse charge.

Can I cancel?

Yes. Before recording starts, an approved job can be canceled free of charge, except within 24 hours of an agreed recording time or rush delivery, when half the price is billed. Once recording has started, you pay for the work done. A live session canceled or moved less than 24 hours ahead is billed at half of the booked time. Consumers can also withdraw within 14 days, and these fees then don’t apply.

Rights

What’s the difference between a license and a buyout?

A license lets you use the recording for what was agreed: the media, the territory and the time, such as a year of radio in Croatia. A buyout lets you use it anywhere, in any medium, with no end date. It costs more, but it can work out cheaper for something that runs for years. Voice cloning and AI training are excluded either way.

What can I do with the recording?

Once it’s paid in full, you can use it for the media, territories, languages and term agreed in writing. If the quote doesn’t list them, that’s online and internal use, worldwide, for one year. You can cut it, mix it with music and effects and fit it to picture, and you don’t have to credit the voice. Reselling it, editing it to say something that wasn’t recorded, cloning the voice or using it to train AI isn’t allowed. Usage rights
